Secrets to Parenting the Strong-Willed Child

A Five Week Clinically Proven Workshop for Parents of Children Ages 4 -10

Dr. Pam McCaskill has been teaching and refining this workshop, based on scientifically-supported techniques of behavior modification, for the past 10 years. This "Best of the Best" workshop is a compilation of parenting techniques and strategies that have been tried, tested, and proven by parents of strong-willed children.

These strategies really work and you will see a dramatic improvement in your child's behavior and the home environment by the end of the 5 week session.

In this workshop, parents of strong-willed children (including those with ADHD and disruptive behavior disorders) learn new methods for improving a child’s behavior and self-esteem. The children become better behaved and happier and parents become more effective and self-confident.

Topics Covered in Class

  • Teaching your child to listen to you (the first time you ask!)
  • Motivation
  • Responsibility
  • Self-esteem/Self-confidence
  • Discipline (that really works!)
  • Back talk
  • Distractibility
  • Impulsivity
  • Meltdowns
  • Whining
  • Bedtime struggles
  • Morning struggles
  • Sibling rivalry

There are very few professional resources in a small group format for parents of strong-willed young children. The group process allows for an enriching setting in which parents can discuss their individual concerns and struggles and get advice from an expert in the field. The participants form a supportive environment and the group format makes attending the workshop financially possible for some families that may not otherwise be able to afford individual psychotherapy with a Licensed Psychologist. Most importantly, the child’s behavior and self-esteem will improve via consistent application of the techniques presented in the course and parents will be more effective and self-confident.

Testimonials

“I thought the class was wonderful. I have noticed huge improvements at home. Also, it’s made me much more aware of how my actions, phrases and words directly affect my children. I notice that I catch myself before speaking and take the time to make what I’m saying positive.”

“Very helpful tips. I thought this workshop was very useful and enjoyable (humor meshed well with subject matter). Handouts were great.”

“Really enjoyed the class. I especially liked the practical advice. I also liked the opportunity to ask questions along the way."

“I felt welcomed, not ignored, and absolutely motivated when I left each week."

“It was very helpful throughout each week that we learned more and more of how and what to do to discipline our child. It has been very helpful step-by-step on what to do. We are thankful for the class and what we learned."

“The class was very helpful, the information impactful. I would suggest this class to other parents and I have given your name to the head of my son’s program as a reference.”

“I liked that you gave me suggestions on different things to do, not just one or two, because every kid is different. This was a very personal class. I think that helps in reaffirming my own parenting skills. You are wonderful. Thank you.”
